The Atlanta Film Festival: The Last Survivor

We had the incredible opportunity to experience the Atlanta Film Festival with the documentary we shot in conjunction with Righteous Pictures, called “The Last Survivor.” A film about genocide, the film follows 4 survivors as they tell the stories of their horrible pasts yet share their hope of what can be accomplished in the future through activism. Having worked on this film for about 2 years, it was exciting to finally share it with audiences. The film has already won various awards including best film at the Oxford Film Festival and a Special Jury Prize at the Dallas International Film Festival. Next up, The Los Angeles International Film Festival May 12-13th. Excited about that one!!!

Won 2 CEA AWARDS AT WEVA 2009

Got some great news recently! We were in Orlando, FL for WEVA 2009 and we took home 2 Creative Excellence Awards. It was our first time attending and we are extremely happy and grateful for the awards. Thank you to all the couples, families, and Merge team members that helped us win these prestigious awards. Washington, DC

So we’re back on the road working with Righteous Pictures, this time in Washington DC. This is such an incredible city. We’re here to film a SAVE DARFUR rally taking place in front of the White House. We are covering it as part of their documentary, The Last Survivor, and a new piece they are doing for a non profit organization. Enjoy the pic!

FIU Award Presentation

So the FIU video was finally premiered at the Torch Awards at FIU. President Modesto Maidique was presented an award for his contributions to the university over the last 20 years. The video was very interesting to work on considering we collaborated with FIU’s marketing department and used so many elements in the project. It was a combination of newly shot material, archival footage and pictures, which some we animated, and also voice over narration. It really was an absolute pleasure working on the project and we were excited to see how well the video was received. Let us know your thoughts. ENJOY!

Cravings Photoshoot

So yesterday we had the incredible opportunity to produce a behind the scenes documentary piece on a photoshoot for Cravings Magazine. We worked with a beautiful model by the name of Joanna Krupa, which was voted the sexiest model of 2008. It was an incredible shoot and we got some beautiful images. We can’t wait to show the final piece with everyone. Stay tuned!

A few months ago we had the opportunity to go with Michael Pertnoy and Righteous Pictures to a summer camp in Maine called Acting Manitou. It was an incredible experience as they hired Michael’s company to produce their promotional video for next year. Michael directed, produced, and edited the piece. But the best part about the whole shoot is that Michael called us looking for a cinematographer. We took the job and it was an incredible experience. Here is the shorter promo video. ENJOY!

What’s up everybody! We are back on the road with our friend Michael Pertnoy and Righteous Pictures continuing to help shoot his documentary, “The Last Survivor” It’s a documentary that focuses around a very serious ongoing issue that our world still deals with today, genocide. It’s amazing that this goes on in our world. With that being said, Michael is trying to bring further awareness to this issue, along with showing the powerful backstories of these incredible characters. The documentary is a blessing to work on because of how attached you become to the people. It’s a very fulfilling project. Lil' Wayne Studio Session

What’s everyone! Yesterday we were fortunate enough to shoot a studio session with Lil’ Wayne for LA-based documentary producers, QD3 Entertainment. They specialize in hip hop documentaries. Lucky for us, this year’s top selling artist resides in Miami and it just so happens they are producing a documentary on his life entitled, “The Carter” It was an absolutely incredible experience as we love hip hop at Merge Studios. It is the fuel and the heart of a lot of our work.
On a side note, I must say a few things about the experience. People are so quick to stereotype people like Lil’ Wayne and/or the hip hop community in general. But as a creative artist and from first hand experience, this guy is not only a workaholic, but a musical genius. He deserves absolutely everything that comes to him because he works HARD! It was a pleasure and an honor to see a future hip hop hall of famer do his thing.
